Barrie Jr. Sharks compete in Provincial Championships

The Jr. Sharks shift their focus to the OWHA Provincials this weekend. While a league title is out of reach, the Sharks qualified for one final dance in the Greater Toronto Area. Further, the tournament runs until Sunday, April 10.

The Sharks drew first blood in their preliminary match. Consequently, the girls defeated Bluewater Jr. Hawks 1-0 on Thursday night. Julia Koski scored the lone goal while Rory Edwards stood tall to earn the shutout.

Next, the Sharks take on the Brampton Jr. Canadettes Friday morning before facing the Durham West Jr. Lightning at 6:30 pm.

Barrie Royals news

Barrie Royals basketball kicks off an eventful weekend coupled with copious activity. The girls’ U13, U14, U15, and U17 programs compete in scheduled games. Moreover, the boys’ U11, U13, and U14 squads resume action.

Barrie Colts weekend games

While the Colts’ season winds down, the team remains busy. Likewise, the Colts open their three-game weekend against the Kingston Frontenacs on Friday night. In addition, the game takes place at Leon’s Centre.

Afterward, the Colts return home on Saturday night. The boys make their way to Sadlon Arena as the North Bay Battalion awaits. Additionally, puck drop is at 7:30 pm.

Finally, the Colts travel to Peterborough Memorial Centre for a Sunday afternoon showdown. Furthermore, Barrie tangles with the Peterborough Petes at 2 pm. Presently, the club sits fifth in the OHL’s Eastern Conference Standings.
