Cameron Chadwick Representing Canada at U19 World Championships

Georgian Grizzlies men’s volleyball player Cameron Chadwick has been named to the 2021 FIVB Beach Volleyball U19 World Championships roster. The event takes place this weekend in Phuket, Thailand. Chadwick is a Barrie resident and first-year Architectural Technician student at Georgian College. Chadwick previously competed on Team Ontario’s Black and Elite programs.

Additionally, Chadwick’s father, Robin Chadwick, is an assistant coach for the men’s volleyball program. To follow along with the FIVB Beach Volleyball Championship results, click here.

Barrie Colts Return After Week Off

The Colts get #backinthesaddle after a temporary layoff, tangling in a weekend duel with the North Bay Battalion at Sadlon Arena on Saturday, 7:30 PM start time. The Battalion lead the charge in the Central Division standings. The Colts (11-7-2) sit third in the Central, currently riding a three-game winning streak.

Afterward, the teams swap home ice as the Colts travel to North Bay Memorial Gardens, Sunday at 2:00 PM. The Colts and Battalion have split their regular-season series at one game apiece. Leading scorer Oskar Olausson and team captain, Brandt Clarke, will be leaned on heavily for offensive production. Battalion winger Brandon Coe leads the league in scoring, with teammate Matvey Petrov trailing in second.

Also, Olausson was recently named to the 2022 Sweden World Junior roster. Olausson leads the Colts in goals (12) and points (25).

The Barrie Women’s Hockey Association has announced registration for the Winter Player Development Clinics for BWHA players who meet the qualifications. Registration requirements include:

  • Players rostered to a 2021-22 competitive team
  • Players rostered to a 2021-22 DS team
  • U11 and U18 house league players

PlayPong Christmas Tournament

Redline Brewhouse is hosting a doubles Pong Tournament on Saturday night. Double Elimination rules are in effect, and registration is $25 per team. Furthermore, winners will receive cash prizes and a medal. For more details, visit

Barrie Minor Hockey Association Tournaments

BMHA youth tournaments get underway this weekend. First, the MD – U18 team participates in the Winterlude Tournament. Opening action kicks off Friday, Dec. 10 at 3:50 PM against the Brampton 45’s at Don Beer Arena (2).

Also, the A – U18 White program joins the fray, heading to Pickering for the Winterlude Classic. Game one commences Friday at 12:50 PM, as the Junior Colts take on the Burlington Raiders Black at Don Beer Arena (3).
