Mark Smither boxes for the Canadian Super Lightweight title
Barrie’s own Smither (6-0) vies for his first championship in his professional boxing career. Further, Smither takes on fellow undefeated fighter Paul Ispas (4-0-3) on Saturday, Feb. 26, at the CAA Centre in Brampton, Ontario. Additionally, United Boxing Promotions presents this two-title fight card, Singh vs. Balmir, on Punching Grace’s streaming platform at 6:30 pm.
Lefroy Icebreakers season year-end tournament
The Lefroy Icebreakers present their year-end tournament for local youth hockey programs. Moreover, age groups ranging from U9-U21 teams will be in attendance. In addition, the Barrie Black U9 – HL/LL team competes against the Twin Centre Stars and Innisfil Winterhawks in their respective group.
Furthermore, games will be played at Centre Ice Sportsplex, Stroud Arena, Lefroy Arena, and the Innisfil Recreational Complex.
Barrie Colts look to end recent skid
The Colts (23-17-4-0) lost their last two games and are 3-7 over a ten-game stretch. Further, the team travels to Sudbury Community Arena to play the Sudbury Wolves. To sum up, the Colts are 4-2 on the season vs. Sudbury. Leading scorer and captain Brandt Clarke will be counted on for additional scoring.
Next, the Colts head home to Sadlon Arena Saturday night to face the Peterborough Petes. Previously, the boys fell short 5-4 against the Petes. In addition, fan attendance for games is back in full swing!
Georgian Grizzlies men’s basketball action
The Grizzlies (4-1) remain undefeated at home! Further, the men’s basketball team hosts the Durham Lords tonight at 7 pm. The Grizzlies aim to rebound after suffering the first loss of their season last Sunday.
Finally, the team travels to Loyalist College for a Sunday afternoon match against the Lancers. The Grizzlies triumphed over the Lancers back in November 85-78. Moreover, Jaylen Moore-Tucker continues a strong season, averaging 17.8 points on a 65% shooting percentage.
