Simcoe County Rovers FC host weekend doubleheader
Sports fans, rejoice! The Rovers return to J.C. Massie Field this Saturday.
Firstly, the women’s club resumes its sheer dominance over League1 Ontario’s Women’s Premier division. Furthermore, the Rovers (7-1-1) welcome National Development Centre-Ontario (6-0-3) to the pitch, beginning at 4 pm.
Afterward, the men’s club takes the pitch against FC London (1-5-2) at 7 pm. The Rovers (4-2-2) undergo a favourable matchup following a 1-0 defeat to ProStars FC (4-3-1).
Both Rovers squads remain top-5 in their respective divisions, seated in playoff position.
Baycats look to right the ship
The Barrie Baycats (5-5) split a home-and-away schedule this weekend.
The Baycats are just 1-5 over their last six games. Expectations were high after a 4-0 start to the 2022 IBL season. The team travels to Bernie Arbour Memorial Stadium tonight for a 7:35 pm contest against the Hamilton Cardinals. Then on Sunday, the Cats return home to host Guelph Royals at Vintage Throne Stadium, starting at 7 pm.
Despite a roaring start to the campaign, the team’s recent skid has caused the Baycats to slip to fourth in the IBL standings. Additionally, the Baycats boast a -16-run differential. The team will need to improve its performance on the road (1-3) to close the gap between themselves and the league-leading London Majors (6-1).
Barrie Bombers Jr. C weekend action
The Bombers aim to thwart their rival, the Orangeville Northmen, this Saturday, June 11, at 7:30 pm.
Notably, the game takes place at Peggy Hill Team Community Centre. In addition, the Bombers recently ended a 10-game losing streak by doubling up on the Hamilton Bulldogs 16-8. Moreover, the Bombers look to earn their first victory over the Northmen this season.
