Simcoe County Rovers FC host weekend doubleheader

The Rovers aim to continue their winning ways this Saturday at J.C. Massie Field.

Firstly, the Rovers kick things off in the Women’s Premier division. Moreover, the Rovers (5-1-1) will resume action against Hamilton United. The game begins at 5 pm.

The women’s club boasts a remarkable 0.50 GAA this season. Further, the club is coming off an impressive 3-0 victory over FC London. To date, the Rovers retain a top-5 seeding in the division.

Afterward, the Rovers shift gears toward the Men’s Premier division. The Rovers (4-1-2) welcome ProStars FC to Barrie for an evening contest beginning at 8 pm. Additionally, the Rovers look to build on a thrilling victory against BVB IA Waterloo.

Leading goal scorer for the club, Shawn Claud-Lawson, provided the heroics. Further, Claud-Lawson secured a diving header late in the final frame to score the go-ahead goal for the Rovers. Notably, Claud-Lawson joins fellow Rovers Cloey Uddenberg and Yazmeen Jamieson by being named to League1 Ontario’s Team of the Month.

Significantly, Saturday marks the start of the Rovers’ participation in the Credit River Cup. The Rovers debut in the Credit River Cup while competing against ProStars FC, North Mississauga, and Sigma FC. Equally important, the event aims to raise money for charity.
