Barrie Baycats carry unbeaten streak into weekend contests

The Baycats (4-0) aim to continue their winning ways, playing two more games over the weekend.

First, the Baycats welcome the London Majors to Vintage Throne Stadium for a Saturday evening game. This will be the first of six meetings between the two clubs this season. Further, the first pitch gets underway at 4 pm.

This is the second of five “Junior Baycats” games scheduled for the 2022 IBL season.

Afterward, the Baycats travel to Bernie Arbour Memorial Stadium. Furthermore, the Baycats will prepare for a Sunday afternoon showdown against the Hamilton Cardinals. Previously, the Baycats defeated the Cardinals 5-4 in extra innings.

Despite remaining undefeated, the Baycats still have room for improvement. The ball club boasts a 17-12 scoring differential against opposition teams. Nevertheless, the Baycats have benefitted from a refined bullpen and pitching during the current campaign.

Simcoe County Rovers return home for weekend double header

The Rovers return to Barrie after picking up a couple of draws in their previous action.

Firstly, the women’s squad (4-1-1) plays Sunday afternoon against FC London. The kick-off is at 2 pm. Additionally, the Rovers sit in fourth place in the Women’s Premier standings.

On the men’s side of the pitch, the Rovers (3-1-2) host BVB IA Waterloo at 5 pm on J.C. Massie Field. The Rovers recently battled Vaughan Azzurri to a 2-2 draw. Further, the Rovers currently hold a fourth-place seed in the Men’s Premier rankings.

Notably, Rovers FC striker Leaford Allen has transferred from the club. Moreover, Allen has joined the Napier City Rovers of the New Zealand Central League. What’s more, Allen scored two goals in three appearances for the Rovers during the 2022 season.

Barrie Bombers Jr. C lacrosse news

The Bombers look to end an eight-game losing skid this weekend.

On Saturday, the Bombers play host to the Wilmot Wild at the Peggy Hill Team Community Centre. Game time gets underway at 7 pm. The Bombers haven’t fared well this season against the Wild, sporting a 1-3 record.

Subsequently, the Bombers return to action on Sunday against the Brantford Warriors. Furthermore, the Bombers remain winless this season against the Warriors, hoping to change their recent misfortune. The game takes place at Brantford & District Civic Centre at 3 pm.
