Barrie Colts season-high losing streak continues

It’s been a tough stretch for the Colts, picking up two more losses this weekend to extend the streak to seven games. The Colts travelled to First Ontario Centre Friday to face the Hamilton Bulldogs, who came away with a 5-1 victory. Nathan Allensen scored the lone Colts goal.

Next, the boys returned home to Sadlon Arena on Saturday night to host the Sudbury Wolves. A depleted Colts roster took its toll as the Wolves overwhelmed them en route to a 7-4 win.

Moreover, a trio of Colts birthdays took place this weekend. Beau Akey (17), Cooper Matthews (18), and goaltender Matteo Lalama (20) all celebrated their respective milestones.

Simcoe County Rovers announce three new signings

The women’s club was bolstered by a trio of signings this weekend. The Rovers announced the additions of Adriana Devlin, Alyssa Nikkel, and Soumaya Bouak for the upcoming inaugural season.

Devlin is a defender from Ottawa U and a 2021 OUA East All-Star. Furthermore, Devlin earned gold at the 2019 FISU University World Cup. Nikkel is a midfielder from Ontario Tech & Trent University. Finally, Bouak was a 2020 RSEQ Indoor Second Team All-star from Ottawa U.

Finally, the men’s basketball team resumed play, coming away with a well-earned 81-74 victory over the St. Lawrence Surge. The Grizzlies improve to 2-0 on the season, fueled by a return to life at Georgian Athletic Centre gym for the first time in a long time. Jaylen Moore-Tucker led the charge for the Grizzlies, scoring a team-high 21 points on 72% FG shooting and added six rebounds.
