Barrie Colts weekend results

The Barrie Colts suffered back-to-back losses to the Oshawa Generals and North Bay Battalion.

The Colts welcomed the Generals to Sadlon Arena on Saturday night. It took a shootout to settle this game. As a result, the Generals skated away victorious, 5-4.  

In addition, Generals forward Ryan Stepien scored the decisive shootout goal. Matteo Lalama made 15 saves for the Colts, while Roenick Jodoin & Chris Grisolia each collected three points.

Next, Colts Country travelled to North Bay Memorial Gardens to battle the North Bay Battalion.

The Sunday matchup resulted in a 3-2 defeat for the Colts. Forward Ethan Cardwell potted his 15th goal of the season as Declan McDonnell tallied his 24th marker on the power play. Further, goaltender Nolan Chartrand made 24 saves in his Ontario Hockey League debut.

Tyson Foerster makes his return to Barrie

Former Colts star Foerster makes his grand return!

The Philadelphia Flyers of the National Hockey League have loaned Foerster to the Colts for the remainder of the 2021-22 season. Additionally, Foerster was drafted 23rd overall in the 2020 NHL Entry Draft. The native of Alliston, ON, played 126 games for the Colts from 2018-20.

Moreover, the 6’2, 194-pound winger has played 33 games for Philadelphia’s farm team, the Lehigh Valley Phantoms. Foerster has 12 goals and 20 points across two seasons in the American Hockey League. The 20-year-old forward provides size and skill coupled with a reliable scoring touch.

What’s more, Foerster rejoins sister and fellow junior hockey player (Barrie Jr. Sharks) Kali back in Barrie.

Barrie Baycats March Break camp concludes

The Baycats hosted a youth camp for baseball enthusiasts over March Break.

Barrie’s baseball club continues its community-driven efforts during the off-season. The Cats invited fans to The Warehouse on 49 Truman Road (door N9) while focusing on hitting, fielding, base running, defence, & more!

And don’t forget Baycats fans, the team’s home opener gets underway on May 19 against the Toronto Maple Leafs!
