Butcher shops are for shoppers who care about where their meat comes from. A good butcher shop will help you source cuts and show-stopping steaks, but a great butcher takes the mystery out of meat by putting locally and ethically-raised animals above all else.

Walk through the doors at Burnett’s Butcher Shop on Bryne Drive, and you have entered a secret world of meaty delights. The staff at Burnett’s does not only have the meat, but all the fixings to create a traditional or gourmet meal once you’re home. In addition to the superb meats, Burnett’s offers dozens of other products: pastas and sauces, oils and vinegar, cheeses and charcuterie, as well as peeled and prepped veggies, spices and rubs. Simply put, Burnett’s is a ‘One-Stop’ Butcher Shop. Making your entertaining or meal planning easy and their flavourful best, they also carry bread and dessert products from our own Fox’s Bakery.

Shop Local - The difference is Significant

Buying from local farms has a direct bearing on meat quality. Animals that travel long distances suffer a lot of stress. The result is tough and tasteless meat. Locally sourced and sold meat is far kinder to the environment and contributes significantly to the community.

Partnering with local farms, the hand-selected meats are readied for you using old-world practices to cut every piece to order. Customers can pre-order their fav cuts or stop by the shop and select from the available traditional cuts. There are freezer packages available and a new ‘dry-ageing’ unit for the most discerning tastes.

Learn from Your Butcher

At this butcher shop, the staff loves teaching customers about their meats, what makes them different and why such expertise is essential – but what if you don’t know how to prepare that crown roast or that dry-aged New York Strip? Both the butchers and staff have you covered with recipes and tips matching all levels of experience and tastes.

You can learn a lot from a good butcher. They might tell you how the shoulder of lamb is cheaper and sweeter than the leg of lamb. You’ll save money, but the butcher earns your trust.

To sum it up: Butcher shops are for shoppers who care. Talk to your butcher. Explain what you want and let them make recommendations. They will teach you about meat as your buying relationship develops. It’s no shame to admit your lack of knowledge about meat. Butchers might not know how to repair cars or build computers, but they are experts in their field.
