TGIF: Summer Suds Preview (Part 1)

Freakshow Crush - Flying Monkey's

Previewing The Best of the Locally Produced Summer Beers

The lazy days of summer will soon be upon us, commanding us to seek out patios and barbecues.

Of course, it’s a little tricky in lockdown…but we can make do on our home terraces.

We’ll spend the next few weeks previewing some of the tastiest summer beverages from Barrie’s best brewers.

First up….

PEEL OUT IPA – REDLINE

Is this the real life? Is this just fantasy? Redline teases this summery drink with the immortal words of Freddie Mercury and Queen. And like the band, this beer does not disappoint.

Peel Out is an ideal pick for your house bar. The initial pour is a warm, straw-gold, with an inviting aroma. A lacey thick fingered foam and a blend of tropical tastes (mainly citrus and mango) gives way to a firm bitterness.

Hints of pine, pineapple and malts are present throughout, and there is a warming character to the whole drink. It lets you know that there is a high ABV, but without it overpowering your experience.

The chilled can delivers an even more robust  experience, as the cold vibes enhance the warm weather feel. Perfect for camping, the campfire or sitting on the dock waiting for the fish to bite.

It’s a balanced (but strong) beer with an overall firm body and medium to high carbonation. Best paired with something from the beef or burger side of the menu to absorb a chunk of that 8.8% ABV.
