Our local luxurious fall colours and event planning inspired this month’s collab.

We started off by connecting with the lovely Leanne at Always on Board.  What is an event without charcuterie? Charcuterie boards, being the latest in what’s trending (have you seen the grazing tables,) had Leanne at the top of our call list. Who doesn’t love fine cheeses? Leanne is the expert in all things cheese.

While attending an event we couldn’t help but admire the elegant décor and fine service being provided by none other than Dani and Dawn of Elegant Picnics. They offer a trendy, yet sophisticated setting of your choosing, whether that be an upscale event, romantic setting, or for whatever fits your needs. Even though the weather is quickly changing, they offer wonderful indoor opportunities. Just give them your ideal vision and they’ll bring it to life.

What’s cheese without wine? Our next venture was to find the best pairings for all the food we would be serving. Trent at Wine Journeys was our go-to guy. Being a wine connoisseur, he paired his wine choices to various cheeses and meats as well as dessert. By including Trent in our process to choose the perfect pairing, we explored more options and tried some luxurious varieties (while keeping it local) we may never have thought to add.

Speaking of dessert, while keeping our luxurious theme in mind, the perfect choice was Chavo Crepes. The obvious choice was their cheesecake crepe, topped with strawberries, pecans, drizzled in caramel with a dollop of whip cream (a sinfully sweet treat for the taste buds.) Not to mention the beautiful presentation that has become their trademark.

Planning a luxury event requires the ultimate setting. Nothing could have been more perfect than the grounds at Quayle’s Brewery. And of course, the vast array of freshly brewed craft beers was the finishing touch to our picnic event. We placed our picnic sitting atop a picturesque hilltop at the base of the recreated 19th-century musical barn. The day included a tour of the grounds, the hop yards, gorgeous beer gardens and the microbrewery where all the magic happens; all while tasting their current brews (ever changing menu.) We were happy to learn some of their craft beers will be ‘coming to a liquor store near you’, but in the meantime, they have a drive through right there.

Uncovering these local gems we discovered, by following our own shop local slogan, that this city has a small town feel with big city style… see you for the next one.
