There is nothing quite like spending a few hours flipping through discs, and discovering (or re-discovering) tunes for your personal soundtracks.

Fortunately, audiophiles and music heads all over the 705 area code have a plethora of options to get their record fix.

Here are the best record stores in the Barrie area…

Sunrise Records

Located in the Bayfield mall in Barrie, Sunrise is packed with authentic vinyl, CDs, and loads of other pop culture items.

They also have a section entirely devoted to the killer local music scene. And live performances have been known to happen there on the weekend.

The Record Market

You can find the Record Market on Dunlop street in the heart of downtown Barrie.

This cozy spot offers a curated selection of new, and used hard to find music on LP and CD. They specialize in heavy metal, punk and classic alternative.

BJ’s Records and Nostalgia

Another cool downtown spot, BJ’s Records offers a huge in-house selection of CDs & LPs as well as collectibles and memorabilia.

They also repair and sell refurbished vintage electronics, so you can find plenty of authentic gear to level up your listening lounge.

Find them on Clapperton street in Barrie.

Alleycats Music

Heading up to Orillia, we find Alleycats music.

Packed with vinyl records, turntables, CDs, art prints, posters and t-shirts, you’ll find plenty of merch and gear to satisfy your musical sweet tooth.

Mad Dogs Coffee and Vinyl Cafe

Another unique spot for tunes, you can find Mad Dogs Cafe in Collingwood.

In addition to the slew of sleeves, you can enjoy the best fair trade coffee, tea & lattes while you wander through the catalogues.

More Record Stores

You can find vinyl offerings at most Chapters/Indigo locations, as well as at some antique stores around the area.

And be sure to hit the 400 Market to find Milk Crate Alley Records. There’s also Joe’s Music in Collingwood.

And new to Barrie is Dead Parrot Records, selling vinyl, tapes and books.
