9 Things To Do This September
As summer’s last (official) month rolls in, there are plenty of fun and unique events happening in the Barrie area to send off the season in style.
Scroll on for 9 Things To Do This September!
The area’s largest indie music festival takes over Cookstown on the 16th. The multi day bash includes 3 straight days of concerts, 70 bands across 3 stages, comedy, workshops, camping, buskers, food, vendors and more.
Tickets are still available. You can score passes through their website!
All things nerd descend on the East Bayfield arena on Sep. 11th. Barrie Comic Con is back, with over 70 vendors selling comic books, new & vintage toys, jewelry, DVD’s, anime, manga, prints, and a variety of other awesome geek stuff.
There will even be some Artists present with their own art and comics.
In addition, some vendors will be buying. Bring your unwanted comic books , toys, video games and anything else you are looking to clear out and go home with some extra cash.
Apple picking is a fall ritual for many, and a few farms in the region are opening their orchards just in time for the season.
While the types of apples ready for picking are limited right now, you can expect a colourful variety of apples coming your way this month.
Check out Barrie Hill Farms for Sunrise apples, as well as McIntosh and Honey Crisp (among others)
Steve – O
The Jackass star drops into Barrie on his Bucket List tour on September 13th. Not only are the stunts more ridiculous than what you already know Steve-O for, he did them all, and made a highly XXX-rated, multimedia comedy show out of them. Not for kids, or for the faint of heart.
Georgian Bay Festival
The second annual Georgian Bay Festival comes to Georgian Bay park on Sep. 10th.
Entertainment includes 7 bands, 150+ vendors, food concession booths, ziplines, hay wagon rides, the ReMax Hot Air Balloon and fireworks!
Trivia and Karaoke
Purveyors of pop culture knowledge can channel their inner Ken Jennings and prove their intellectual superiority at various trivia nights in Barrie.
The Queens host trivia every Thursday. Moreover, you can find skill testing competitions at the likes of Fionn McCool’s, Boston Pizza and Redline Brewhouse through the month.
And if singing is your jam, be sure to check out Karaoke at The Queens, CW Coops, Alliance Billiards and Cheers bar.
Screen One – Barrie Film Festival
Screen One is back at the Barrie Galaxy Cinema in the south end on Sep. 7th.
Featuring international and indie films that aren’t in wide release, it’s an opportunity for cinephiles to view cutting edge films.
You can get tickets and more info on the BFF’s website.
The Den of Hilarities makes it’s monthly visit to Donaleigh’s on Sep. 22nd. Featuring comics from the GTA and Barrie, the show is a literal laugh riot.
Shoot Some Pool
You can add a little stick to your social calendar by hitting Alliance Billiards. Besides being a fun (and affordable) night out, you might even meet someone special.
Alliance is hosting a singles mixer on Sep. 16th, with free pool and darts, as well as prizes and giveaways.
